The FAA requires a minimum 40 hours of aicraft flight time.
How much ground school? This greatly depends upon how much you study on your own and at Blue Sky Aviation, we do have structured training methods designed to help you when needed. Yet, you will not be alone with all this as we are there to help you when needed.
There is one Written Test to pass, as required by the FAA, and self study also applies to this. Books and DVDs are readily available for this preparation
as well as various "in house" training aids we have within the flight school.
And the actual computerized testing is available right here, on our airport!
Aside from this, the PPL also requires a very basic medical exam and passing the flight test.
Basically, a Private Pilot Certificate is done in three stages:
Pre-Solo: "exploring and getting to know your airplane"....gaining some mastery of basic flight maneuvers while working toward the
day you finally get to fly alone. A big day for everyone who has ever done this!
Cross Country: Going to new places. And by yourself too!! In this phase, you and your Flight Instructor will also dome spectacular and unforgettable night flights.
Checkride Prep.: This is the time during which your newly learned skills are fine tuned, in order you get through that flight test with the most confidence.
For many years, we have a record of nearly 100% first time
successful completions of Flight Tests!
